Up dated Jan. 23rd:  Still very much a WIP (works in progress) at this point….but getting a little closer.

The start of a portrait…always a little scary, and exciting. All of that white space, just lines….can you capture who that animal is, the personality? Always more fun if the client allows the artist free rein, however when dealing with a beloved furry friend…well sometimes it is best to not tamper with perfection and one would do their best to capture the animals true likeness. The eyes have it hand s down….they speak volumes to their human friends so important to make that the focal point. I will do my best to post an update to this a little later in the day.

Snow from yesterday all gone, actually it was gone within the hour. We had our fun….now just a muddy mess. Funny how the dogs know that when it is raining and muddy….lots of naps inside, they can stand it for about two days at the most. Looked over at Rocky earlier and starting painting him….wonderful model when sleeping. Still very much a works in progress…will not take long to finish it up. Check back a little later…for his hard work modeling will have to take him for a nice walk before it starts raining again.

I know Northerners would get a good chuckle that I am calling the above “snow”….but indeed it is snow, and still coming down. Last I heard this will just be mushy mess and not amount to anything…or just turn to rain, or so they say. Want to see a city panic, come to Atlanta when there is any mention of snow….just not equipped to handle it. I have not seen snow in several years….this is the first time the dogs have seen snow…Niki did not like it….remember the tale “The sky is falling”….well that is how she looked. If any snow left in the morning I’ll post a few images….all though I really doubt it.

Yes…still in the office trying to get things put away…not having any fun So…took a few minutes to scribble something…just to put me in a better mood. Makes things go so much smoother when I take time to create something. I hope my attention span is a little better tomorrow, need to really get this office completed!!

Digital Art has come a lonnng way Baby!

There are so many things that can be done….the end result looking more like Traditional Art, and some more like Digital Art. Lots of wonderful artists producing amazing works. The above is the start of a simple sketch..it is being done in Corel Painter….I will be posting the complete sketch a little later today. So many brushes to choose from, paper and texture choices….once completed and printed onto fine art paper or canvas you can…if you prefer the look as I do, to go over with paint, pastels, chalks to add more colors and more texture for a Mixed Media Painting. The above sketch will be completed with a layer of pastels making ir pop with vibrant color and that wonderful look that pastels adds to it.

What a day….very loud explosion….then no power, no business phone and DSL. Must have been a transformer. Not sure what we did before DSL Completed my quick sketch hours ago…a few changes were made. Although the hair was originally behind the ear…it was decided to cover the ears….add bangs for that is how it is usually…or so I am told and a tighter crop.

Storms approaching so todays posting will be verrry short….must take the puppies out before it gets bad out there. Today found me working on sveral “On the Easel” Paintings….and the above. Boxers are wonderful…good looking, faithful, loyal, loving and silly…yep silly. If you do not believe me, look up kidney beaning and there you will find info on Boxers Online Classes Coming Soon.

Today finds me still working on horses….beautiful creatures! This is a WIP…the early stages at that. Just colors blocked in….that leaves me painting several at the same time. Keeps me from getting bored. Lots to do this afternoon and I am afraid I must turn my attention to parts of running a business that I find the least amusing….but someone has to do it and since it is just me…tag I’m it I will mange some time with the puppies for it looks a little over cast….more agility, will manage a few images and post them later on.

I have been teaching Rocky agility….slow going due to his pano (growing pains…causes the dog to suffer joint pain). We actually stopped for a while….he has been pain free for a couple of months. Still….introducing things slowly….more for fun and light exercise and attention. Had my camera with me this afternoon….now really this is a challenge being both the handler and photographer…especially with a dog that needs the handler by his side. Used the clicker and did a couple of practice runs….slowly building up our distance to one another….then managed a couple of shots. He did a great job of it….although if you look closely at the last frame…I started getting up to get out of his way….good thing the old knees worked for that would have been ugly

Another lovely day here in the Atlanta area, sunny low 70’s. More outside fun with the puppies, worked on several paintings including this new one which is still very much a WIP. What a lovely and peaceful scene…..”Peace & Tranquility”.

If you look close enough you will notice that on the mat it states 2007….a week into the new year and I am still writing and typing 2007 !!!

Attempted to clean up this site and redo the forum….work on the shopping cart so that I can start classes once again….Grrrr. I am thinking to get this whole thing running smoothly I will have to redo much of it. Not having fun and all I am doing is thinking about it Needing a web guru to fix the many things I am not crazy about… Really nothing too difficult, a site with an easy to update shopping cart, blog…easy to use gallery, I swear I cannot remember how to add a new gallery….looks like the old site was much more user friendly.

So far this months painting is just in the early stage of a quick sketch. Check back in a couple of days and you will find a lovely Dachshund in a chilly, wintry scene….just perfect for January’s Breed of the Month. What a wonderful breed…lively, devoted, friendly and very affectionate…they are part of the hound group and are natural Hunters. As with all breeds, training and early socialization is a must. One can truly get lost in the eyes of a Dachshund! All Breeds of the month are available on tee shirts, sweatshirts and coffee mugs, along with prints ranging from 8 x10’s – 16 x20 (depending on the Paintings dimensions…all prints are on Fine Art Paper). For the entire month of Jan. 2008 $5-25.00 of the proceeds from the sale of alll items sold with this image will be going to that specific Breed rescue.
