Red Flowers…

red-flowers.jpg

Earlier today as I was painting the above, due to my eyes bothering me as of late I was continually having to stop and put a cool cloth over my eyes. Rather then detail I used color and my brush strokes. When you cannot see well the details are just not there for you paint….as for the use of color…again, not having the ability to see well you tend to use darker tones….lots of contrast in your paintings, at least that is how it is for me.

Taking off the reminder of the day to turn my attention to things around the house…the dogs. Still hot here in the SE so out door time will be short….my canine friends are not enjoying the warmer temps, like me they prefer it a little cooloer.

More of Springs Bounty. The Day Lilies are so lovely…and so very easy to grow. I am not much of a gardener, add to the fact my land is either to wet in aresa, or way too dry. Tiger Lilies, Day lilies, although are short lived can just about grow anywhere.

Spring Has Sprung…

Storms rolling through the Atlanta area this afternoon. I noticed the sky darkening and heard thunder in the distance and grabbed the camera and headed out front. The last couple of days I have been meaning to photograph the apple tree, so lovely when the tree is heavy with blooms…and the smell is just simply delightful. To my surprise I noticed that a few of the tulips had bloomed as well, they are not on my property but rather my neighbors. Only managed a few shots, not the best light and storm was getting closer. If the storms are not too bad and there is anything left will try for a few more tomorrow.

Enjoy!

The many signs of spring are popping up everywhere….birds singing in the Bradford Pear trees, as are there lots of buds and flowers. I fell in love with both the dogwood tress and Bradford Pear trees when we first arrived in Georgia. Due to the wet land, we could not get a dogwood to grow on our property. So, in went the Bradford Pears, what I did not know at the time was that the flowers smell….and not a very pleasant aroma at that. The trees beauty when blooming make the smell something to just ignore, it is only for a short time. This year just may be shorter then most for freezing rain and possible snow is in the forecast…so glad I took a few minutes to get a few shots late yesterday….even if I did not have enough time to enjoy due to the light fading. Last image is the daylilies popping up throughout the yard. All images taken with a Nikon D300, close up lens (without tripod….always best to use a tripod….especially if not steady).

Sometimes I need to just take a few minutes to paint something, anything….it is the best way to relax, de-stress. Usually…when this happens I am not in the mood to work on something that I have already started…to bad for I have several still “On the Easel”….but rather I just sit and paint and where it takes me….well at this stage I am pretty sure most can guess where I am headed with this.

Took another short break and continued with this one for a bit…still a ways to go but progress being made.

Fall Colors

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

dscf0148a.jpg

dscf0191.JPGFall has arrived here in the Atlanta area….the temperature has cooled down, especially at night. Dry, cool days….lovely. The down side for us is that while we may enjoy the dry weather….we are in such a severe drought that rain would truly be a blessing. State wide ban on all outside watering.

The other day the pups and I went for a little adventure and sadly there were no lovely fall blooms to be photographed :-( a1.jpg
A trip to the local florist was needed to bring some lovely Fall Colors into our lives, if only for a short while. While it did spruce up the place…I also managed a few photographs to share….enjoy the Fall colors! This is the start of my Close Up Photography series.

Welcome…

Yes, it is true….another move. Still with word-press but now our very own space in the vast Internet.

I did my best to bring everything together to make it easy for my dear friends and clients to look around at what we offer, easy to purchase paintings, photography sessions….coming soon our very own forum…..a place for photography students to go….classes can also be given online. I am still working on adding the store and putting together the site, so have any suggestions…..feel free in telling us about them.

So wondering….how many folks actually have a favorite color??

Morning stroll…

rocnikgem.jpg

This morning found the pack and I strolling around….taking in the sights sounds and smells ;-) Camera in hand, dogs following we walked around, taking our time…and there….a couple buds found just waiting for us to notice them. Could not resist a few photo’s….then as I so often do could not help but look to the dogs. They are so sweet, happy…just lovely, so they too were photographed.
